About project
Skirl is an engaging endless runner game inspired by classic platformers. The player controls a cat that jumps and dodges slimes and bats, collecting coins and increasing the difficulty as they progress. The game mechanics are simple: tap to jump and double tap for a double jump. The further you run, the faster the world becomes.
The game is developed in Swift for iOS, ensuring maximum performance and smooth animations, which is critical for this type of dynamic games. The visual style is executed in dense pixel art with a multi-layer parallax background, creating a sense of depth in the 2D world. The entire interface is maintained in a retro aesthetic with pixel fonts and controls, giving the game a unique charm of the 8-bit era.
Skirl offers users a full gaming experience without the need for an internet connection. The player's progress is saved locally through iOS UserDefaults, eliminating the need for registration or data collection. Monetization is done through Google AdMob, allowing users to enjoy the game without interruptions.
