About project
Boxrent - the leading self-storage network in the Baltics, manages numerous facilities in Latvia, Lithuania, and Estonia. The company faced a challenge: customers were forced to call or visit the office in person to rent boxes, which created inconveniences and increased the workload on employees.
Our task was to create a web application that would provide a complete online rental cycle - from selecting a location to signing a contract. The main goal is for the client to be able to rent a box independently, without calls or office visits.
We developed a modern SPA on Vue 3 using FastAPI for the backend and PostgreSQL as the database. The application includes an interactive map with facility locations built on the MapBox API, intelligent box selection by size and price, an image gallery, customer reviews, as well as a step-by-step booking flow accompanied by a progress bar and data validation.
Special attention was paid to multilingualism: the application supports Latvian, English, and Russian languages. The responsive design is optimized for mobile devices, which is critical for our target audience. Integration of the payment system and automatic rental confirmation via email complete the user experience.
For administrators, a management panel was developed for facilities, boxes, and rentals with a real-time availability status system. The project is deployed via Docker and CI/CD on a VPS to ensure stability and scalability.

Choosing SPA and API-first approach
For maximum speed and intuitiveness of the interface, we chose SPA on Vue 3. The backend is implemented as a REST API on FastAPI, which allowed us to separate the frontend and backend, speeding up development and ensuring easy integration with payment systems and external services.
Interactive map with MapBox API
We implemented an interactive map based on MapBox so that users can visually assess all network objects and quickly select boxes. This has become a key element of UX, enhancing engagement.
Multilingualism and Localization
Considering the multinational market of the Baltics, support for four languages has been implemented: Latvian, Lithuanian, English, and Russian, thereby expanding the audience and increasing user trust.
Automation of the rental process
We created a step-by-step booking process consisting of 4 steps: location selection → size selection → data entry → payment. The progress bar and the ability to return to previous steps, as well as data validation, ensure accuracy and eliminate errors.
